I’m the type who likes to work on things for myself. That’s why, I walked into a chilly lake house after job about a month ago, and made life much harder on myself. The Wintertide wasn’t full on yet, but, normally the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C furnace would kick in once the chilly lake house got dark & the temps fell. However, this time it was clearly evident that the furnace was not ever going to come on. I checked to be sure that it was getting power supplied to the right place. However, I simply couldn’t get the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C heating device to ramp up. Upon closer inspection, I thought I could see a switch looked burned out. This is where I should have stopped right away & humbly dialed the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C professionals. Instead, I decided to dig into the furnace & replace that part. First, I took it to the big box store to replace it. Of course, you couldn’t know less than I did about Heating, Ventilation, & A/C. I found what looked like the same part & I bought it. I had the furnace back up & running in 2 hours. That was a nice feeling, but my sense of accomplishment didn’t last all that long. Maybe a month ago, out of nowhere, the furnace shut off 1 afternoon with all kinds of noises & clangs. The piece I purchased was faulty & ended up allowing the furnace to get so unsafely sizzling that it cracked the core. Now, because I used a different piece that was not OEM, the furnace is destroyed. Plus, I voided the warranty on the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C by repairing it myself.
