Learning how to live in the great north

The single area of my task that is the hardest is how often I have to pack up and move.

I rarely am ever anywhere for more than a few years at a time before it’s on to another hotel or resort.

This is super normal in the hospitality industry but it does wear on me. My latest transfer to a new job has come with a big promotion. There are multiple high end hotels that I am now personally responsible for. Nice for sure, even though I had to quickly transfer to northern reaches of the country. Truth is, I hate the cold. I despise going anywhere that the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C heating is on for more than numerous consecutive weeks. Having been raised my whole life in the South, I just have the worst time getting comfortable with any amount of snow, ice & chilly temps. Knowing this, I made absolute sure that the people I was with and I found a lake house with a genuinely high quality Heating, Ventilation, & A/C system. The last time I lived up north, it definitely was a freezing nightmare. I knew nothing about Heating, Ventilation, & A/C at that time other than having a heat pump most of my life. I admittedly was completely ignorant about furnaces, boilers & other assorted Heating, Ventilation, & A/C heating methods used in brutal cold. This led me to falling prey to a poorly trained handy man completely scamming my Heating, Ventilation, & A/C. The guy who was recommended to me was nice enough & knew the lake house inside & out. It felt good having him to do stuff that I wasn’t actually able to do because I traveled so much. However, I learned this guy was in no way a licensed Heating, Ventilation, & A/C worker like I thought. This led to 1 of the coldest years of my life.
